Hintergrund und Akteure

Die Forschungsförderung im Bereich "Information and Communication Technologies" (ICT) wird auf europäischer Ebene federführend von der Generaldirektion "Kommunikationsnetze, Inhalte und Technologien" (DG CONNECT) betreut. Den politischen Kontext des Themas bildet insbesondere die Leitinitiative "Digitale Agenda für Europa" im Rahmen der Europa 2020-Strategie.

Eine wichtige beratende Funktion im Hinblick auf Ziele und wissenschaftlich-technologische Prioritäten von Horizon 2020 übernimmt das CONNECT Advisory Forum for ICT Research and Innovation (CAF).

Eine entscheidende Rolle spielen die ICT zudem auch für die Themenkomplexe zweier Europäischer Innovationspartnerschaften (EIP), deren Ziel die Vernetzung der verschiedenen Akteure im jeweiligen Themenbereich ist:

• EIP "Active and Healthy Ageing"
• EIP "Smart Cities"
