A model employment contract for Marie Curie fellows in Germany
Within Horizon 2020, model employment contracts are available for German Host Institutions which are about to recruit Marie S.-Curie fellows through Innovative Training Networks (ITN, especially ETN), European Fellowships (EF) and Global Fellowships (GF). In addition to that, a model for a partnership agreement between the German Host Institution and the partner institution in the Third Country is available.
For projects funded by FP7, the model employment contracts for Initial Training Networks (ITN), Intra-European Fellowships (IEF) and International Outgoing Fellowships (IOF) are still available. Furthermore, a glossary as well as an English reading version of the model employment contracts have been compiled.
The model contracts provide support for the composition of Marie S.-Curie-specific employment contracts by considering the provisions of the European Commission for the funding arrangements as well as the legal requirements of the Host Institution. However, using the model contract or single parts of the text requires an obligatory legal assessment by the recruiting institution in any case.
The model contracts are set up as employment contracts according to BGB §611. They are adopted to the rules of the ITN Model Grant Agreement and mirror the Marie S.-Curie unit costs in the fellow's salary. It should be noted that financial gaps may arise when using TV-L/TVöD contracts.
The working group, which has developed the model contracts, consists of:
- National Contact Point Marie S.-Curie
- University of Bonn / Euroconsult
- Max-Planck-Society
- Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft
- Helmholtz Association
- DLR (German aeronautics and space research centre)
- University of Duisburg-Essen
- KoWi
Since the models are intended as living documents, the working group asks for feedback regarding usability and content of the contract. Please send your feedback via e-mail to:
