Advanced Materials

The field of "Advanced Materials" is one of the six Key Enabling Technologies (KET) of part II in Horizon 2020, Industrial Leadership.

Advanced Materials are of great significance for industrial innovation. Since advanced materials provide a broader functionality due to the increase of knowledge, their development is essential for European industry’s competitiveness.

Further criteria for the development of innovative and competitive materials are a low use of resources and energy as well as a sustainable life-cycle of the products which also contributes to coping with societal challenges. Thus, findings of scientific and technological research, development and innovation in this field can also be found in many other fields of application providing solutions to cope with the Societal Challenges.
