Special funding measures to combat the COVID-19 pandemic: Calls for proposals

The European Commission has published details on the calls for expression of interest within the recently launched special COVID-19 funding measures in the Horizon Europe Work Programmes for Research Infrastructure and Health.

Details of the following topics are now available in the Funding & Tenders Portal:

• HORIZON-INFRA-2021-EMERGENCY-01: FAIR and open data sharing in support to European preparedness for COVID-19 and other infectious diseases
• HORIZON-INFRA-2021-EMERGENCY-02: Research infrastructure services for rapid research responses to COVID-19 and other infectious disease epidemics
• HORIZON-HLTH-2021-CORONA-01-01: Vaccines & therapeutic clinical trials to boost COVID-19 prevention and treatment
• HORIZON-HLTH-2021-CORONA-01-02: Cohorts united against COVID-19 variants of concern

The implementation of the measures will be carried out through calls for Expressions of Interest. They will follow the same process that was successfully used for the call to address the COVID-related public health emergency in mid-2020. Expressions of Interest have to be submitted using the usual proposal template, however project proposals can be kept concise and should focus on the essential information to allow for a proper evaluation.

The Funding & Tenders Portal will be open for submission as of 13 April 2021, with a deadline of 6 May 2021. The review process is expected to be completed within one month after the call deadline and the grant signature no later than two months after the announcement of the evaluation results.
