Calls for proposals opened for Societal Challenge 5

16. Nov 2018

On 14 November 2018 the European Commission opened two multi-annual calls for proposals in the Horizon 2020 section Societal Challenge 5: „Climate action, environment, resource efficiency and raw materials”. Actions in this call aim, firstly, to move to a greener, more resource efficient and climate-resilient economy in sync with the natural environment, and, secondly, to demonstrate a strong commitment to supporting the UN's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the targets of the COP21 Paris Agreement.

Therefore, the Work Programme is articulated around two calls:

  • "Building a low-carbon, climate resilient future: climate action in support of the Paris agreement" with 5 new topics
  • "Greening the economy in line with the sustainable development goals (SDGS)" with 12 new topics

Proposals for these topics can be submitted in one- or two-stage submission procedure, depending on the individual topic.

Deadline for the submission of pre-proposals in two-stage procedures and for full proposals in one-stage procedures is 19 February 2019, 5:00 pm Brussels time.
After successful pre-proposals the corresponding full proposals in the two-stage procedures must be submitted until 04 September 2019, 5:00 pm Brussels time.

You will find further information including the call text, conditions and necessary documents for application on the Participant Portal or the new Funding & Tender Opportunities Portal.

The detailed description and conditions for individual topics can be found in the current Work Programme for Societal Challenge 5.
