European Commission launches “New European Bauhaus” initiative

On 18 January, the European Commission has launched its "European Bauhaus" initiative.
The "European Bauhaus" was first announced by Commission President Dr Ursula von der Leyen in her State of the Union address in September 2020. This initiative is an interdisciplinary project, aiming to combine design, science and technology and contributing to the implementation of the European Green Deal.
Participation of the United Kingdom in EU research programmes

On 1 January 2021, the Trade and Cooperation Agreement agreed between the EU and the United Kingdom (UK) preliminarily entered into force. In order for the agreement to become effective, formal approval by the European Parliament is needed.

New IPR Action Plan

On November 25, 2020, the European Commission published a new IPR Action Plan. The main objective of the action plan is to renew the regulations for intellectual property in the EU in order to be able to face new challenges such as digitization and climate change as well as the corona pandemic and to strengthen Europe's economic power.
