Support for research intensive SMEs (EUROSTARS II)

The Joint Programme "EUROSTARS II" (Support for Research Intensive SMEs) is designed specifically to support research-intensive SME. Building on the experiences of the predecessor programme "EUROSTARS" launched back in 2008, it provides funding through bottom-up calls for SME. Participation is open to transnational consortia  which are coordinated by an SME carrying out research and development. The projects run up to three years; results should be commercialised within the first two years of the project.

"EUROSTARS II" is a Joint Programme of the European Commission, the 28 EU Member States and five Associated Countries which is implemated in the framework of EUREKA and based on article 185 TFEU. Other countries associated to Horizon 2020 can also partcipate under certain conditions. For EUROSTARS II, a budget of EUR 1.148 bn. is foreseen, EUR 861 bn. (2013-2020) of which are provided by the member states and  EUR 287 bn. by Horizon 2020.
