Further funding opportunities

KoWi offers general information and advice as a first contact point on the following funding opportunities.

Complementing the calls within this Societal Challenge, the Joint Technology Initiative (JTI) "Clean Sky 2" also publishes calls for specific project funding in the field of aviation. Clean Sky is an institutional Public-Private Partnership between the European Commission and the aviation industry, aiming at reducing air transport effects that are harmful to the environment (such as emissions and noise), at green product life cycles and at speeding up development towards marketability of new and clean aeronautical technologies.

Another relevant Public-Private Partnership within aeronautics is the Joint Undertaking SESAR (Single European Sky ATM Research), implementing the technological and operational dimension of the Single European Sky (SES). SESAR aims at developing a modernised air traffic management system to meet future safety, capacity and efficiency needs.

There are also a number of joint programming initiatives of different member states that issue calls for proposals on transport issues:

  • JPI "Urban Europe" (without German participation)
  • ERA-Net Maritime Technologies MARTEC II
  • Further ERA-NETs: Netwatch

Within the framework of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology, a call for the creation of a Knowledge and Innovation Community (KIC) "Urban Mobility" is planned.

The following Directorates-General (DG) relevant for this theme occasionally allocate funds via calls for proposals and calls for tenders:

  • DG Mobility and Transport
  • DG Energy
