KoWi seminar EU-Kompakt II in Brussels

15. Dec 2023

Registration for our EU-Kompakt II seminar on 16 and 17 April 2024 in Brussels is now open.

Content and objective

Under the title "Actors and communication channels in Brussels", our "EU-Kompakt II" seminar offers the opportunity for participants to exchange with Brussels-based actors in European research policy, e.g. from the EU Commission and its executive agencies, from associations and interest groups. Thematic contexts, strategic aspects and current developments that play an important role in the design and implementation of the EU framework program Horizon Europe will be discussed in depth.

The aim of the seminar is to provide background information on the EU framework programme and to make research policy structures and processes in Brussels understandable.

Programme schedule

The two-day event begins on the first day of the seminar at 9:00 and ends around 15:30 on the second day. On the evening before the first day of the seminar, an informal get-together will be offered for participants who have already arrived in Brussels.

Planned agenda items

  • Overview of research stakeholders in Brussels
  • Strategic programme planning in Horizon Europe
  • Development of Horizon Europe work programmes
  • Guided walk through the EU quarter and insights into the work of a German federal state's representation in Brussels
  • Opportunities for R&I stakeholders regarding their advocacy activities in Brussels
  • Paths to Horizon Europe association in exchange with representatives of a third country

Who can take part in EU-Kompakt II?

The seminar is aimed at EU funding advisors, project managers and other multipliers. Participation requires advanced knowledge and experience in the field of EU research and innovation funding. Another important prerequisite for participation is an affiliation to a German university or public research institution or being a member of an institution belonging to the association supporting KoWi. The seminar will be held mainly in German.

Have you already attended EU-Kompakt II a few years ago and would like to participate again? That is possible and welcome! The seminar follows the development of the EU Framework Program, highlights novel aspects and points out approaches to new actors.

If you are considering taking part in both KoWi seminars EU-Kompakt I and EU-Kompakt II, we generally recommend that you plan a certain time gap between the two seminars.

More information on EU-Kompakt II is also available in our KoWi podcast.
