EIC Impact Report 2022 published

The European Innovation Council (EIC) has published the Impact Report 2022.

The report includes a foreword by Mariya Gabriel, EU Commissioner for Research and Innovation, who emphasizes the importance of the EIC in achieving the EU's deep tech ambitions. She highlights the growing EIC portfolios in critical areas, including renewable hydrogen, cell and gene therapies, precision agriculture, and quantum technologies.

In the period 2014-2021, the EIC has supported 1600 innovative companies and funded more than 500 research projects under Horizon 2020 and Horizon Europe. According to the report, projects have generated 1375 innovations, 35% of which have the potential to create new markets.

The report includes a chapter with spotlights on a number of next generation technologies, including AgriFood, renewable hydrogen, neurotechnology and space.

The annex includes data on EIC performance based on established key performance indicators, such as information on patents, publications, and innovations, as well as operational performance, such as time to approval of EIC-funded projects.
