European Commission: Public consultation for a European soil health law

The European Commission has recently launched a public consultation to gather views and opinions on a possible legislative proposal on soil health.
 
This legislative initiative was announced by the EU Commission in its Soil Strategy in November last year. It aims to ensure the protection, sustainable management and restoration of soils in the EU. The aim is to create a legal framework that gives soil the same level of protection as water, the marine environment and air. The Commission plans to present this legislative proposal by 2023.

The consultation is structured into a first section addressed to the general public and a second section addressed to experts. All results of the consultation will feed into the impact assessment of the European Commission and will also be summarised in a report.

The consultation is open until October 24.
