MSCA Doctoral Networks: 144 new projects funded

On April 1 2022, the European Commission published the results of the Doctoral Networks Call 2021 in the Marie Skłodowska Curie Actions (MSCA-DN). The first MSCA Doctoral Networks in the Research Framework Programme Horizon Europe are funded with a total budget of EUR 405mio.

Out of 1076 proposals 144 were selected for funding. 18 selected projects are Industrial Doctoral Networks and 10 are Joint Doctoral Networks. The success rate is 13.4% which is a substantial increase in comparison to previous calls in Horizon 2020.

In the MSCA Work Programme 2021/22 projects were downsized in comparison to Horizon 2020. Generally, only up to 360 person months are eligible. An increase of up to 540 person months is possible in the more ambitious variants Industrial Doctoral Network and Joint Doctoral Network. At the same time, the unit costs were raised.

Proposals that received less than 80% of the scores can be resubmitted with the same consortium and the same project topic only in the call 2023.

The next call for applicants for MSCA Doctoral Networks will open on 12 May 2022. KoWi gives advice to all questions regarding the application. As usual, we offer proof-reading of proposals if they are sent to us at least three weeks before the deadline (November 14, 2022).
