Research topics

The focus in the space theme is on aerospace technology, space exploration and space-based applications.

I.Space-based applications at the service of the European Society

  • Global Monitoring for Environment and Security (GMES)
  • Security aspects (complementary to security research and to GMES activities)
  • Application of the satellite communications

II.Exploration of space

  • Providing FuE-support and maximising additional scientific benefit; easy access to scientific data
  • Support actions on developing space-based telescopes and detectors; data analysis in space sciences

III.FTE for strengthening space foundations

  • Space research and its development for long term needs, including aerospace transportation, research activities to increase competitiveness and efficiency of the European aerospace technology industry
  • Space Sciences including biomedicine and biosciences as well as other sciences to do with space
