Marie Curie Individual Fellowships

Marie Curie Individual Fellowships provide funding for researchers who want to set up their own research project at a host institution in another European country or a Third Country. Researchers from Third Countries have the opportunity to apply for an Incoming Fellowship at a host institution in Europe.

Precondition for a Marie Curie Individual Fellowship is either a doctoral degree or research experience of at least 4 years (full time equivalent) after university graduation. In order to submit a proposal the applicant has to choose a research host institution (university, research centres, SME, etc.) at which she/he will carry out the project if funded by the European Commission. The topic of the project can also be chosen freely by the researcher.

Applications for this scheme can only be submitted to the European Commission via the Electronic Proposal Submission System (EPSS) following yearly calls for proposals. Proposals must be submitted in liaison with a host institution (universities, research centres, international organisation, SME, etc.).

EU-funded "Initial Training Networks" offer training for PhD students within European networks. Vacancies for PhD students as well as for postdocs (with a maximum of 5 years of research experience) are available at EURAXESS.

The European Commission co-finances fellowship programmes that are similar to the Marie Curie Individual Fellowships. These programmes aim for the scientific independence of the fellows and are generally designed for postdocs. more »
