World Fellowships: International Outgoing Fellowships for Career Development (IOF)
International Outgoing Fellowships aim to reinforce the international career of European researchers by giving them the opportunity to be trained in a high-level research institution in a Third Country (e.g. USA, Canada, Japan). The subsequent return to a research institution in an EU Member State or Associated Country is mandatory.
The research phase in the third country can have a duration of 12 to 24 months; the duration of the reintegration phase at a host institution in Europe (including in the home country of the researcher) is 12 months. For the time of her/his stay in the Third Country the researcher is seconded from his European host institution; therefore she/he will be employed by the European host institution for the whole duration of the project. Only experienced researchers who are nationals of an EU-Member State or Associated Country are eligible for this Fellowship. Researchers with the nationality of a Third Country are also eligible, if they have done their research or worked in an EU-Member State or Associated Country for the last 5 years before the deadline.
