Since the beginning of the 7th Research Framework Programme, the European Commission co-finances fellowship programmes that are similar to the Marie Curie Individual Fellowships. These programmes aim for the scientific independence of the fellows and are generally designed for postdocs. Each programme has different requirements, although transnational mobility is a key component for all programmes (i.e. within Europe, in a Third Country or reintegration).
