The cost categories were restructured in order to simplify the project accounting. For all projects starting under the work programme 2011, the following cost categories apply:
- The Monthly living allowance (-1-) corresponds to the existing “living allowance” from category A: the rate is set according to the research experience of the fellow, whereas a county-specific correction coefficient is applied. The current rates of both the correction coefficient and the living allowance can be found in the relevant work programme.
- Monthly mobility allowance (-2-) covers expenses in relation to mobility of the fellow, e.g. relocation costs or travel expenses. The amount of this flat rate is set according to the family status of the fellow and the country-specific correction coefficient is applied.
- Monthly contribution to the training expenses of eligible researchers, e.g. conference or seminar fees and research/transfer of knowledge programme expenses (-3-), e.g. for the organization of workshops and conferences (ITN, IAAP). The actual amount of the contributin depends upon the chosen Marie Curie action (Network or individual action).
- Management costs, including certification of the financial statements (-4-): max. of 10% of the total European Union contribution (ITN, IAAP)
- Indirect costs/overhead (-5-): 10% of the direct costs of ITN and IAAP actions or a flat rate of 700 EUR per fellow month, on which the country-specific correction coefficient is applied (IEF, IOF, IIF)
- Other costs (-6-): small equipment expenses for SMEs, flat rate for the optional return phase within IIF actions.
